The present era offers an unprecedented opportunity for interdisciplinary research, as the categories of physics, biology, and computer science converge on a grand scale. Accompanying these convergences are significant strides in computational power, enabling the simulation and testing of theoretical physics-based models, and advancements in bioinformatics, facilitating the efficient analysis of data generated from sequencing experiments. Moreover, cutting-edge statistical techniques such as machine learning provide novel avenues for analyzing and interpreting data in distinctive ways.

The computational and experimental biophysics lab aims to integrate theoretical methods of non-equilibrium statistical mechanics for modeling and predictive purposes, alongside stress-based experiments conducted on model organisms. These experiments may involve subjecting the organisms to various stressors, including heat shock, pathogen infection, and osmotic stress, to elucidate their responses and behaviors.
